Happy Birthday Konata!

おたんじょうびおめでとう、こなちゃん!

Man, she’s possibly the best gag character in anime, second only to Fumoffu’s Sagara in terms of absurbness. The awesome combination of loli, otaku and boke has already secured Kona-chan a spot in my Top 10 list.

This week’s Lucky Star was especially funny thanks to Konata-chan. I wonder if the director upped the comedy levels in conjunction with her birthday today. Even from the first minute, I was already in stitches, no thanks to her and her father, who finally appears in a talking role this week. Gotta love his passion!

I’ll do my entry for this week’s episode later, maybe when the subs are out. This week’s ED is totally whacked by the way… man, Aaya-chan has to improve on her english singing, XD.

Konata-oneesamaaa~!!!!!!!

Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck fuck. Aya Hirano should never do “onee-sama” roles…. Konata’s onee-sama impression almost killed me. Almost killed me… “Ara, Kagami-san, Tsukasa-san, gokigenyou.”….. arghrtoo4d-0di093ujjdw…. OTL. Watch out for the Strawberry Panic cameo at 06:17 as well. It makes me wonder if they’re adding oil to the “Kona x Kagamin fire” amongst fans nowadays… the episode did had a high count of Konata “molesting” Kagamin.

This episode also focused on their handphones, and Konata, unsurprisingly, has Hare Hare Yukai as her ringtone and also uses “meganekkogekirabu” as her mail address XD. (BTW, she has a Kooh figurine on her PC!) Kinda pity Tsukasa though, losing the handphone after using it one day… remember kids, always remember to check your pockets before throwing them in to the wash.

This week’s Lucky Channel is…. OMG SHIRAISHI WITH TWINTAILS!! OMG SHIRAISHI WITH TWINTAILS!! OMG SHIRAISHI WITH TWINTAILS!! OMG SHIRAISHI WITH TWINTAILS!! OMG SHIRAISHI WITH TWINTAILS!! OMG SHIRAISHI WITH TWINTAILS!! OMG SHIRAISHI WITH TWINTAILS!! OMG SHIRAISHI WITH TWINTAILS!! Whiskey! Tango! Foxtrot!

This week’s ED is Chijou no Hoshi, sung by Miyuki. I’ll say, Miyuki can -really- sing! Crap I want the original single for that song.

Japanese Learning English....

You should watch this clip...it's awesomely cute and funny....

Macaron

i miss my now long digested pierre herme macarons, especially the vanilla flavoured ones. apparently, the good folks over at palate sensations does macaron lessons, well at least based on this blog entry. very pretty little devils. to me, macarons are uber-sweet flavoured cream sandwhiched between two colored biscuit waffles. i know all the dessertoirs (if there is such a word) would raise their arms and protest. but seriously, macarons are fancy oreos. having said that, i prefer macarons.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy mother's day to all mothers~!

Problem of Motivation

I’m falling in love with Kona-chan more and more. It’s really scary for me to say this, but her action patterns to avoid studying are almost exactly like mine, seriously. Kinda ironic for me to say this when I have an exam due in 3 days ahaha~.

That aside, Kona-chan stole the whole show for me, first with her reasons for being late. First day was helping a fellow “friend” (in a MMORPG nontheless) and the second day was just pure gold with the “I got caught up with a girl who stole taiyaki…”. Then she chose the most awesome birthday presents for Kagami and Tsukasa with the former getting a “danchou” armband and the latter getting a ToHeart uniform. God knows how many parodies of Akari-Tsukasa have been produced. If they insert in one of Kagami in Shana outfit, KyoAni will be eternally etched in the minds of otakus world wide.

Also, gotta love Kagami’s secret love for the FMP light novels. Ah… I really wish that the English ones would come out faster myself. Also, the random, high-quality shots really jarred me a bit, for a moment there, I thought I was watching AIR XD. Not to forget, Akira-sama was as awesome as usual today. Gotta love her bipolarity providing us with really good parting laugh every week.

BTW, what was the song being sung by Kagami this episode? Seems like it’s from a J-Dorama.

Random things I noticed after watching Lucky Star 04 subbed

1. Early in the episode, Kagamin asks Konata how’d she get her job when a waitress is supposed to have a nice figure, but Konata pokes back with a line from a game saying that “Flat chests are a rarity!”. Later, there’s a poster of Mayumi nicely decorating her room.

2. In one of the scenes where she’s trying to study, there’s a figurine on her desk that reminds me of the Genki-Dama skill Goku used to kill Buu in the Dragonball manga.

3. Konata watches Haruhi but the episode is set in summer. Haruhi only lasted 13 episodes and was aired during Spring 06. This means that she couldn’t have watched it, timeline-wise.

4. At the end of the episode, Konata comments that Y******* is cutting corners with the long winded Nagato scenes. Right after that… the screen blacks out for a while, depicting Konata unable to sleep. Also… thinking back, is this some form of foreshadowing?

5. Konata’s notebook when she’s wondering for the new menu for her workplace has the “Kame” sign of Muten Roshi from Dragonball.

Nekomimi meido yakuzas....LOLOLOLO

Oh god, seriously one of the funniest Ouran episodes ever. This episode was made of too much win, my stomach hurt from the laughing. Seriously, Hikaru and Kaoru, are you guys high or what? Asking Yakuza-kun to dress up in nekomimi meido LOLOLOLOL XD.

Really, the sheer hilarity of this should warrant Yakuza-kun a special mention in jason’s nekomimi meido Power Rankings. Wonder what’s next, bunny girl Mafias? That would be so awesomely weird and funny.

Suigintou's smile....CRITICAL MOE DAMAGE

Finished watching Rozen Maiden ~Ouverture~, I died and went to heaven. A few times. Suigintou is clearly the best. Can’t understand those desu-tards, Suigintou is clearly supreme.

Aside from Suigintou being teramoesu~~, Ouverture introduces us to her backstory when she first met Shinku. I must say, I can really understand the animosity between those two much more better now.

Also, Sara was kinda cute, too bad the script writers didn’t write in a “-nyo” for her. I would’ve LMAO’ed hard if they did that :)

Death Note 3 Trailer

Rumors has it that the movie Death Note 3 is about to be released. Here's a sneak preview of it... *grins*

Mion and Shion

My respect for Satsuki Yukino just went up considerably with this character CD. Self-duet for the win XD.

The Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Character CD’s are probably the most entertaining character CD set I’ve seen in a while. “USODAAAAA!!” Rena’s CD has Keiichi and Oishii duet rapping, which was the funniest thing ever since Kyon and Itsuki’s pathetic attempt at singing My First Goodbye in gangsta-rap style in the Haruhi Drama CD, and now Shmion’s CD has her self-dueting. And the songs are really not for the faint of heart who understand Japanese. Let’s just say disturbing things happen in the song in a very happy manner. And the drama track has poor Keiichi forced to crossplay as well, I think. I kinda stopped when that mental image formed so I can’t confirm.

Saber Figures

Could there be anybody out there who has not seen Fate? Well I suppose you dont really have to know anything about Fate to get this figure of Saber cos shes such a cutie! To tell you the truth, I didnt think much of this figure when her pre-release details came out months ago but decided to get her after seeing Monpuchi-sans review - you will notice that I steal some of his photo ideas ^^;
Her belly and legs are most appealing and well crafted. If you prefer your figures with large eyes however then this purchase may disappoint...

Saber comes with a Kakigori (a Japanese crushed ice desert) penguin and a mini saber but you can put other stuff in her hands too. Folks who wear glasses like me can have Saber hold up to two pairs of glasses ^o^ Here are some photos I took of her. Enjoy~

And finally, a group picture of my collection....

stay tuned for more of my collection.....

"Miyuki-san, GOOD JOB"

Kona-chan, GOOD JOB!

My heart skipped a beat when that happened from the moe overload.

Lucky Star is getting better and better and had me laughing from Tsukasa’s dojikko-ness, Kagami’s tsun-tsun-ness and Kona-chan’s otaku-ness (”Dakara… AI DA YO!”).

Also, the ED this time is Aaya-chan singing “Sore ga Ai deshou”, FMP? Fummofu’s OP theme.

japanese jig

The devotion some Japanese men show towards dodgy dolls is definitely well documented, but perhaps a little less well known is a similar dedication when it comes to dancing; however as an art form it’s a fair old distance from the foxtrot, with anime and outfits the guiding force.

Like this young man for example, who is somewhat alarmingly aping the routines and regalia from the anime Lucky Star. And perhaps even more disturbing, he’s really rather good too, albeit in excruciatingly bad fashion.

haruhi suzumiya

OH yeah!!! It's dancing time~!

recognition at last

While reading an article, I came upon an astonishing find. As believe it or not, I’ve had a curry named after me. A beef one at that.

I can’t tell you how proud it makes me feel to walk down the dried food aisle and see this awe inspiring sight. And just like me, LEE curry is hot and spic somewhat shoddily packaged, and despite its claims, rather bland.

meaty meal?

How exactly the dish below is prepared and what ingredients are included isn’t clear, which is perhaps just as well.

Not that it deterred many of the customers mind you, although for a few of them it was a toss up between the cocked rice and spotted dick.

multiplying maids

With maid cafes in Japan now mainstream and seemingly every conceivable variation on the theme exhausted – all the way from watering holes for women to cafe-cum-convents – the black and white clad beauties are now apparently branching out further; reflexology rather than a refined cup of tea very much the order of the day at this establishment.

Reassuringly though, the regalia remains the same.
